KIDDERMINSTER Harriers boss Ian Britton has issued a rallying call to his promotion-chasing troops ahead of tomorrow's Nationwide League Division Three clash against Cambridge United at the Abbey Stadium (3pm).
He has told them that the forthcoming spell of three matches in eight days could decide their destiny in the race for at least a play-off place.
Britton said: "Results went for us in mid-week. We've got games in hand and it's in our hands."
Following a crop of fixtures on Tuesday -- and their unexpected day off when last Saturday's scheduled match at Rochdale was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch -- Harriers will go into tomorrow's game in 11th place, five points away from a top three automatic promotion spot.
They are, however, only two points adrift of a play-off place and will be hoping to repeat the kind of display which earned them a 2-1 home win over Cambridge on October 26 when on-loan midfielder John Melligan scored both his side's goals.
The U's, who won 2-1 at Darlington on Tuesday, are one place and four points behind Kidderminster who will be visiting the Abbey Stadium tomorrow for the first time for a Football League match.
Their only other previous encounter there was in February 1960, when Harriers drew 2-2 in a Southern League match.
Kidderminster, meanwhile, will again be without defender Scott Stamps and midfielder Dean Bennett, although both are stepping up their comeback bids.
Stamps has not played since November after undergoing groin surgery while Bennett suffered a torn hamstring against Boston United on February 22.
The duo could be available for Kidderminster's home clash with relegation-haunted Swansea City a week tomorrow.
Before that, however, Harriers face a tough test against Shrewsbury Town at Aggborough on Tuesday (7.45pm).
With such a crucial spell coming up Britton fears that the small size of his squad could make life difficult.
"It's a worry. If we get an injury or two we could struggle," said the Aggborough chief, who accepts that he may have to bring in new blood to help keep their league ambitions alive.
FORMCAST: Harriers will have to be content with a 1-1 draw.
