A FORMER Malvern College pupil is returning to the school to take part in its annual concert.
John Graham-Hall, international tenor and principal at the English National Opera, will sing the tenor part of Benjamin Britten's cantata St Nicholas.
The concert takes place on Sunday, March 23, and will feature music by Handel as well as Purcell.
"The entire second half is devoted to Britten's St Nicholas, for which we are delighted to welcome back an old boy to sing the tenor role," said Iain Sloan, director of music at the school.
"We're lucky to get hold of him as he is in considerable demand abroad.
"John has just returned from Paris, where he has been singing Pascal Dusapin's new opera, Perela, and his other engagements this year include performances in Montpelier, Amsterdam, Israel and Glyndebourne."
St Nicholas is scored for full choir, string orchestra, percussion, organ, piano duet, children's choir, treble and tenor soloist.
The children's choir will be from Malvern College's junior school, Hillstone, while the treble solo part will be sung by Peter Shepherd, of Worcester Cathedral Choir.
The concert, which is free, will take place at 7.30pm in Malvern College's Big School.
