THE battle of the two Droitwich teams in the Worcestershire Cricket Board Sunday Indoor League saw the 'A' team pip the 'B' side by just one run.
The 'A' team totalled 113-5 thanks mainly to Ian Duggan's unbeaten 45 and Karl Goddard's 21. Karl Everett (1-40), Nigel Haddock (1-24) and Jerome Con-nor (1-20) were the successful bowlers.
The 'B' side went for the runs but needed two off the last ball and Steve Walsh was run out, leaving Connor unbeaten on 26 with 13 apiece from Jack Thomas and Nigel Haddock as they fell agonisingly short on 112-5. Duggan (1-20) was the only wicket-taker.
Alvechurch proved far too strong for a weakened Ombersley, winning by 97 runs. Jim Clifford (44no), Matt Hayward (33) and John Rose (25 retired) helped Alvechurch total 147-3, Richard Collins taking 1-37, and Ombersley replied with 50-6 with only David Pugh (21) and John Ringe (12) reaching double figures. Darren Reck (1-6), Duncan Pritchard (1-8), Rose (1-6) and Clifford (1-7) were the wicket takers.
