INTRUDERS forced their way into the home of a Worcestershire man and threw what is thought to be acid at him.
The victim fought off two men as they tried to get into his house on Milestone Drive, Hagley, near Kidderminster, at 9.30pm on Saturday.
A Kidderminster police spokesman said the attackers threw what they assumed to be a "noxious substance" at him, but missed.
They then attacked him with a metal bar, leaving him with serious head injuries. The man was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
Police are appealing for information about the men, who are believed to have made off on foot down Summervale Road where they got into a dark-coloured saloon car.
Both men are described as being in their 20s and of medium build.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Kidderminster police on 08457 444888.
