SAM Turner, aged 11, from Franche Middle School, Kidderminster, became Midland champion of the Smoby Table Football Championship organised by the Football in the Community sheme.
He won the Kidderminster Harriers tournament and went on to represent Harriers in the Midland area final at Derby County.
He won an exciting final 10-9 against West Bromwich Alb-ion, having come back from being 1-5 down at one stage.
He now competes in the grand final at Leeds United on March 27 in a bid to become the National Smoby Table Football Champion.
n In the Railtrack six-a-side tournament, Harriers' other Midland champion winners, Aston Fields Middle School, Bromsgrove, Under 11s, visited Queens Park Rangers to compete in the semi-finals of the National competition.
Trying to win a place in the grand final, they were victorious in spectacular style, beating Oxford 3-0, Wycombe Wanderers 1-0, and then needing a draw against Millwall to go through, they went 1-0 down in the first half. Aston Fields equalised quickly and then held out against a good Millwall side and a strong wind.
They now face Tranmere Rovers on April 6 .
It is a tremendous achievement for Aston Fields to get so far. They had to beat 42 Worcestershire schools before even reaching the Midland finals. Three thousand schools ent-ered this years' Railtrack tournament.
n Harriers Football in the Community will again be organising a series of soccer courses for children throughout the Easter Holidays.
The venues for the courses are: Kinver Leisure Centre, Monday and Tuesday, April 14, 15; Worcester, Bishop Perowne High School, Monday and Tuesday, April 14, 15; Malv-ern, Dyson Perrins High School, Wednesday and Thursday, April 16, 17; Bromsgrove, Parkside Middle School, Wednesday and Thursday April 16 and 17; Hagley, Haybridge High School, Tuesday, April 22; Cleobury, Lacon Childe High School l, April 22 and 23; Kidderminster, St John's Middle School, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, April 23, 24, 25; Droitwich, Westacre Middle School, Thursday and Friday, April 24 and 25.
