A GROUP that has rescued around 100 horses and ponies over the last seven years is due to meet up tonight.
Horse Watch, a horse rescue group in Worcestershire and Herefordshire, is well known for its rescue services, and the prevention of equine theft and cruelty.
A miniature Shetland pony called Dougal, the mascot of the group, is just one of the many ponies that have been saved by the group.
Dougal, a miniature Shetland pony, was found covered in tar and wondering the streets of Leominster last Christmas.
Dougal has been living with the chairman of Horse Watch, Cy Warren ever since,
"Dougal was very poorly when we found him," said Mrs Warren.
"We don't know how tall he is but he is smaller than a sheep."
The group was formed in 1995 and has around 100 members.
Bob Jenkins, clerk to St Peter's Parish Council is the member of the group who is in charge of the South Worcestershire area.
Horse Watch used to be a group for Herefordshire, but recently, Worcestershire was amalgamated into the group.
During this process some Worcestershire members lost touch with the group because of changes and lack of information.
To rectify this problem and offer membership to new members, an open meeting has been arranged for tonight.
The meeting takes place at 7.30pm in the Oak Room at the Falcon Hotel in Bromyard.
For more information on the group or meeting, ring chairman of the group, Mrs Warren on 01568 750328.
