MORE than £5,000 of damage was caused when three youths broke 41 windows at a Redditch school and smashed two benches, Worcester Crown Court was told.
Judge Andrew Geddes said he would crack down on anti-social behaviour after hearing the youths had been on a drinking spree.
He sent 19-year-old Christopher Cox to detention for 18 months. The other two youths have yet to be dealt with.
Cox, of Banners Lane, admitted criminal damage at St Augustine's School and stealing £48 worth of drink from a shop.
He also admitted wounding a neighbour.
The court heard Cox and another youth were throwing mud at each other in a drunken fight. Some mud hit David Such's front door and when he intervened, he was hit on the head with a bottle causing a wound which needed six stitches.
Tim Harrington, defending, said Cox did not normally drink but when he did, he acted out of character.
