THE planned Redditch Council civic offices will almost certainly be now built in the town centre.
Ideas to alter and expand either the present Mount Pleasant office or use the old Herbert Terry buildings in Ipsley Street have been scrapped by the council.
'It looks as though it will be impossible to raise the cash to tackle these jobs,' council leader Councillor Mrs Pat Wilson told a recent meeting of the town priorities and resources committee.
'We will now have to look at the original town centre site and possible ways of financing a building scheme,' she added.
Following a series of land swaps with Redditch Development Corporation, the council owns a site next to the library in Red Lion Street.
