ALVECHURCH'S title nerves struck again at the weekend with their second stalemate in five days.
Last week results elsewhere left Andy Hibbert's side in prime position to take charge in the title race.
But after stuttering to a 1-1 draw at home to neighbours Feckenham, Church were held to the same score against Romulus at the weekend while rivals Rugby were winning 1-0 to draw level on points again.
And to compound their distress, they slumped to a 2-1 loss to mid-table Fernhill County Sports last night.
The Lye Meadow side have two games in hand on leaders Coventry Marconi - who they trail by three points and are one point behind second placed Leamington..
But Rugby are the biggest threat and are one place above Church in third with a goal difference just two better than Hibbert's men but a game in hand.
Church visit Meir on Saturday (ko 2.45pm).
The midweek game was set to be a charged fixture after the Smedley Crooke Charity Cup quarter final between the sides was abandoned earlier in the season after a horror tackle from Dean Halsall left Church striker Brett Fitzpatrick's foot the wrong way round.
And the two sides are set to meet at Lye Meadow again on Tuesday (ko 7.45pm) to attempt to play the ill-fated tie a third time.
