A MAJOR £100,000 project aimed at reducing the number of traffic accidents around a busy area of Redditch will begin on Monday.
Traffic lights are to be installed on the St George's roundabout and speed limits on dual carriageways leading to the town centre are to be reduced from 70 to 40mph.
The project, which is expected to take up to six weeks to complete, is being carried out by Worcestershire County Council.
New lane markings will be introduced and new signs put up.
Mr Attwood said traffic lights, which were put up months ago on the Alvechurch Highway but have never been switched on, would also become operational.
