RESIDENTS looked set to win a small victory last night as councillors were due to block plans for a takeaway in Rectory Road in Headless Cross.
Permission was being sought to convert the ground floor of a house next to the post office.
But the plans met strong opposition from neighbours, who submitted a 300- name petition to the council objecting to fumes, noise and traffic issues.
The council's crime risk manager also felt the takeaway inappropriate because of the residential surroundings, the risk of litter and the threat of 'disorder' in the area.
There were also worries that an alleyway between the takeaway and post-office would quickly become used as a toilet.
Planning officers said the plan was inappropriate.
