EVESHAM United's sequence of four straight wins came to a dramatic end when they were humiliated 6-1 at Gloucester City in the Dr Martens Western Division last night.

After riding their luck against Bromsgrove Rovers on Saturday, United had no such fortune last night and apart from the opening quarter were outplayed in all departments.

On 12 minutes, the prolific Jimmy Cox put the Tigers ahead with a low drive past Tim Hart for the only goal of the half.

The second half though belonged totally to Gloucester. Andy Hoskins scored twice in the opening nine minutes converting left wing crosses from Dave Wilkinson.

In the 64th minute Hoskins completed his hat-trick thumping in number four following a Harris corner.

Six minutes later Paul West brought down Cox in the area and Hoskins netted his fourth and Gloucester's fifth from the spot.

United were all at sea and number six arrived on 74 minutes. Another Harris corner found the unmarked Neil Griffiths who headed home.

Twelve minutes from time, United pulled one back when Mark Shepherd swept the ball in from 12 yards.

Shepherd could have added two more before the end, but had shots cleared off the line.
