REDDITCH gained another crucial win in their desperate battle to beat the drop from North Midlands One.

The Kingfishers triumphed in their derby clash with arch rivals Woodrush but still need at least a point from their last two games to give them a lifeline.

Saturday's 17-5 win hauled Stan Hull's side out of the bottom two at the expense of Stourport - who went down 12-8 to Upton.

But with Stourport yet to face a Five Ways Old Edwardians team who were walloped 107-0 at the weekend, Hull knows he needs more than the current one point which separates the relegation rivals.

Redditch became one of the first Powergen North Midlands One clubs to secure the prestigious RFU Seal of Approval award in a timely boost this week.

The Bromsgrove Road side, along with Droitwich, are the first Worcestershire clubs to gain such recognition and the Kingfishers will want to prove their quality on the field by staying in Division One next season.

There is a break from league action at the weekend when Redditch are set to host Midlands Four West South strugglers Old Edwardians in a friendly (ko 3pm).

Hull is hoping for a minimum of withdrawals and is set to start after illness restricted him to a slot on the replacements bench at the weekend.
