THE society celebrated St David's Day a day late on March 2 with the annual lunch at Perry Hall Hotel, Bromsgrove.
The room was very festive with green and white linen, pots of daffodils and the national flag.
Jeanette Thomas had made beautiful programmes decorated with pictures of red kites which may be seen on the outing to the Elan Valley.
President Pat Radford welcomed everyone and Mayrose Warren said grace. Tom Thomas lead the toasts to the Queen, the society and St David.
Chairman Essillt Thomas introduced Gareth Edwards, who in turn welcomed guest speaker Melvin Gwyn Jeremiah CB, JP, with whom he had been at school.
Mr Jeremiah has spent his life working at the Home Office and the Welsh Office. During his career he travelled widely. His talk, which was informative, amusing and fascinating was in three parts, covering stories of St David, his childhood and his career.
The raffle was organised by Kath Mantle and Iris Morgan and there were several prizes. Pianist Gwyneth Thomas accompanied the spirited singing of the national anthem.
The future programme includes a Cymanfa Ganu at Droitwich Methodist Church on April 12 at 2.30pm. Also the annual concert, with the Aber Valley Male Choir, at the Palace Theatre on May 10 at 7pm, the President's evening at St Luke's Hall, Headless Cross, on May 16 at 7.30pm and the annual outing to Wales. This year it is to the Elan Valley on June 14.
Tickets for the concert are available now from the Palace Theatre.
