AFTER six weeks of skilled work, the Victorian porch at St Mary Magdalene Church, Little Hereford, has been fully restored to face the wear and tear of future generations.
The job was carried out by Orleton builders P H Postons. Carpenter Alan Greening became a familiar sight to visitors to the churchyard as he stripped away rotten wood in all kinds of weather and replaced it.
"We pride ourselves on our conservation work," said Chris Postons, who is from the third generation of his family with the firm. Among forthcoming assignments, Postons will be consolidating the 12th century wall at Wigmore Abbey and working on the distinctive timber-framed tower at St Michael's Church, Brimfield.
