GIRL power proved a winning formula at the Wyre Forest Young Enterprise trade fair as pupils from Holy Trinity School scooped the top prize.

But it was 17-year-old Simon Farnworth, of Wolverley High School, who snapped up the prize for best promotion of the trade fair after donning a bear's outfit to attract the public.

The fair was held on Saturday and was the culmination of a year-long YE scheme which involves setting up companies in schools so teenagers can learn the skills needed to be successful in business.

Youngsters from Stourminster Special School were selling painted pots and wind chimes made from cutlery and Bewdley High's young entrepreneurs produced CD clocks and fur covered pencil cases and pencils.

Haybridge High School's team produced decorated candles and Hagley RC pupils made hand-made bags and cards.

Organiser Joy Willetts said: "The standards were very high and the judges had a difficult job to select a winner."

The contest was so close all the companies were refunded their £15 entry fee so none lost out.

Stourport High School's company decided to miss out on the trade fair to save their stock for a national trade fair they are attending on Saturday at Stratford-upon-Avon.
