FENCING: Talented fencers at a Chaddesley Corbett school went one step further than last year to win a national title.
Winterfold House's U-12s girls' foil team triumphed in the National Schools Championships in Canterbury, Kent.
They finished runners-up in 2002 but returned to the competition a year wiser and made no mistake against some tough opposition.
Prolific national champion Frankie Pioli was joined in the squad by school-mates Alice Taylor, Lois Unitt and Izzy Ollerhead.
The four, coached by Nick Chapman, had already taken the West Midlands crown.
