HOCKEY: Laith El Khatib scored two goals for Stourport against Old Loughtonians but the National Hockey League Division One champions triumphed 6-2.

The Welsh cap opened the scoring against a team of seasoned internationals when he ran 15 yards to deflect home a 30-yard diagonal pass from Irfan Yousaf.

Loughtonians' movement off the ball and their quick, accurate passing was impressive but was matched by determined tackling from Jon Willicombe and Richard John.

The visitors equalised with a short-corner move deflected over the helpless Matt Simkin from six yards out.

Stourport again secured territorial advantage and El Khatib regained the lead with a simple finish from Yousaf's drive into the circle after he robbed a defender.

However, Loughtonians kept creating chances and equalised before half-time.

They were able to bring fresh legs on as the depth of their squad paid dividends and Stourport's defence was over-worked.

Loughtonians took the lead from a long pass and added a fourth when Simkin appeared to palm the ball to safety only for it to fall under the crossbar.

Stourport rallied through the Yousaf brothers and El Khatib's running but it was not to be Imran Yousaf's day as he failed with three short-corner chances.

The best opportunity fell to Phil Lashford in a one-on-one but it was saved and cries for a penalty stroke were waved away.

The visitors ran in two more goals as Stourport, who head to Chelmsford this Sunday, pressed players forward.

Stourport 2nds 1 Cannock 7

The seconds suffered from a lack of regulars with Nick Gray away and Dan Packwood forced to leave in the second half through work.

The demoralised town side self-destructed with five goals conceded in the second half as there was little man-of-the-match Rob Logan could do in goal.

Packwood had earlier equalised Cannock's opener, flicking home a short corner, but the visitors led 2-1 by the break.

Stourport 3rds 1 Cannock 1

Stourport dominated 10-man Cannock from the start but failed to convert their chances.

Ian Roberts broke the deadlock after 20 minutes with a well-worked move, swapping passes with Rob Lashford to fire home.

But Stourport were unable to build on the lead in the absence of injured top scorer David Knott and Cannock equalised with the last hit.

Kings Heath 1 Stourport 5ths 5

Stourport recorded a workmanlike victory over Kings Heath with two more goals from leading scorer Robin Conway.

Lee Baron's strike was assisted by the returning Rob Claris, while Neil Thomas and Gareth Whale each bagged a second goal in successive matches.

Stourport 6ths 1 Old Halesonians 4ths 0

This was a sensational victory for Stourport over the table-topping Halesonians.

Frank Colwill got the all-important goal in the first half and determined defending ensured a clean sheet against the division's best strikers.

Stourport Blue Badgers 0 Old Silhillians 0

Despite dominating their Birmingham opposition from start to finish, the Badgers were unable to break the deadlock and a rare goal-less home draw resulted.

Droitwich 0 Stourport White Badgers 2

Two goals by Ashley Jones gave Badgers a deserved victory.

The first half was fairly balanced but Stourport gave a much improved display in the second to take their 12th away win.

Both goals were from short corners, while Isobel Rosie, Nick Hubbard, William Terry, David Wardle and Eton Szytbl all impressed.

Fixtures, Saturday: Stourport Badgers v Wolverhampton (3.30pm), Old Halesonians v Badgers (2pm). Sunday: Chelmsford v 1sts (2pm).
