AN heroic neighbour suffered smoke inhalation while trying to fight flames coming from next door's bedroom with a garden hose.
The fire at the house in Atch Lench Road in Church Lench was caused by a hairdryer, which had been left unattended in a bedroom.
The curtains caught fire and the flames soon spread, causing severe damage to the bedroom.
The neighbour, who tried to put the fire out with a garden hose while waiting for the fire service to arrive, suffered some smoke inhalation and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Evesham firefighters spent more than an hour at the scene after the incident at 12.40pm on Friday.
Leading firefighter John Wood said: "If you are going to use a hairdryer, when you've finished make sure you switch it off, unplug it and put it on a non-flammable surface."
