A band could be on the verge of greatness in more ways than one if a Worcester showcase proves to be a success.
BMG records, MAS records, Food Records and Polydor Records are due to check out Worcester band Lukash at The Marr's Bar, Pierpoint Street, at a showcase.
The band, who have graced the pages of Nightlife before, describe themselves as punky and energetic.
At The Marr's Bar showcase, Lukash will also be launching their album, On The Verge of Greatness, recorded at the Barn studios in Bredon.
Lukash, who have been together for just over a year, consist of singer and songwriter Carl Lewis, bass player Adam Hood and Joe Singh on drums.
"The Marr's Bar showcase is going to be a big night, with Lil'Sumo and Loophole supporting," said Joe.
"We e-mailed Polydor as they wanted to hear some music of ours, and we thought it was best for them to see us live.
"We have also got some promoters from London coming and some people from venues in Cheltenham."
"We also recorded some of the tracks at The Marr's Bar," says Joe.
When forced to describe who Lukash sound like, Carl admits they have been compared to The Jam in the past, but says they see themselves as individual.
"We don't have any ballads - we make our set as short, punchy and energetic as possible," he says.
Carl, who writes the lyrics, draws his inspiration for the songs from everyday life.
Joe says he hopes The Marr's Bar gig in Pierpoint Street, on Friday, March 28, will take the band in a new direction.
"I hope it leads to a record deal," he says.
Joe says Lukash are hoping to have a multimedia section of the CD so that people will be able to look at pictures of the band and a video of the band.
People who come to the Lukash gig will also be able to buy Lukash T-shirts , which have been decried by Joe as having "unique and fun designs".
Tickets for The Marr's Bar gig are available on 01905 613336.
