UPTON'S mayor has urged people to play an active part in the life of the town by standing for election to the council.
Voting takes place on Thursday, May 1.
Coun Eric White said he hoped as many people as possible stand for election to the town council.
"It would be nice if we had enough people to cause an election!" he said.
"I think it would be good for all of us."
Meanwhile, town councillor John Dean has resigned his post.
Mayor Eric White thanked Mr Dean for his services.
"I felt he gave a great contribution during the time he was here," he said.
