ORIGINAL artwork donated by locally and nationally-renowned artists will go under the hammer to raise funds for a sensory garden in Malvern.
Jewellry, glassware, paintings, three-dimensional artwork, prints, photographs and cartoons will be auctioned.
Contributions have come from 100 artists, including 30 from the Malvern area. They include a signed inkwash by Angel of the North creator Antony Gormley, works by Bethan Ash and Charlie Waite as well as local artists Ian Fearnside, Aubrey Phillips and Beth Barnes.
The event, being opened by Malvern mayor Frances Victory, will raise money for a £45,000 sensory garden in Victoria Park.
Behind the garden project is Malvern Access Group, which has already raised £11,000 from the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers, QinetiQ and Co-op. Detailed plans have been prepared by Malvern Town Council contractors Sodexho.
The aim of the garden is to stimulate the senses with a water feature, wind block made from living willow trees and colourful plants.
"I think it's going to be an exciting project that will benefit the town," said Coun Victory.
A date for work to start will be announced at the auction. Anyone who wants to help with the garden's construction, should contact Worcester BTCV on 01905 610289.
Viv Owens, of MAG, said she hoped the high quality of lots at the auction would help raise thousands of pounds.
The auction take place at Malvern Hills College on Friday, March 28, at 7.30pm. Lots are available for view from 5.30pm. Anyone who cannot stay for the auction can leave a bid.
