I would like to offer an alternative viewpoint from that given by C Deshmukh (Your Letters, March 7).

I have never been bothered by light aircraft noise, in fact I find the soft putter of their engines quite relaxing and a sure sign that spring is approaching. It certainly doesn't ruin my pleasure of the local area.

I rarely see more than two or three in the area at once and what noise there is rarely lasts for more than a minute or so. Road noise from the local roads and the motorway is much more obtrusive and constant
