TUESDAY, March 11, at 11.30pm. I should be asleep but the Chelten-ham Festival is on. The connection? Each year during the three-day festival, residents in and around Malvern town centre are subjected to fireworks, or should I say mortar bombs.
The first of a series of explosions started just after 10pm, the last at three minutes past midnight. The perpetrators obviously have no respect or consideration for other people, especially the elderly and vulnerable.
I would hope those in the tourist industry who cater for the racing fraternity have a conscience but I suspect, as ever, that money rules.
A P KEYTE, Worcester Road, Malvern.
