DESPITE a price hike of 150 per cent, traders are flocking to buy hanging baskets for this year's Malvern in Bloom competition.
The town council charged £10 each for the baskets last year. This year they are £25 for 16-inch and £27 for 18-inch versions.
Town clerk Shirley Young said increase to included watering and maintenance. The baskets are also substantially bigger and of a better quality than last year.
She said 83 traders had already requested the baskets and more were expected to take the offer up before the deadline of Monday (March 24).
"We've had an overwhelming response," she said. "It will make Malvern an absolutely fabulous place to visit and shop."
