A RECORD number of air cadets have been enrolled into the ranks of a Malvern squadron.
Eleven were enrolled on Monday into 1017 (Malvern) Squadron by their padre Rev Eric Knowles.
The cadets, who have been training hard in order to achieve the Certificate to Fly and the Probationers' Drill Test, experienced the fun of flying on a trip to RAF Cosford last weekend.
Cadets Emily Lewis, Mathew Hutchinson, Ryan Bienvenu, Christopher Williams and Duncan Hine all flew on a gliding induction course, while cadet James Scully flew in a tutor aircraft on an Air Experience Flight.
Thomas Elliot, Luke Whiting, Christopher Miller, Thomas Alfrey, Anton Hyatt and Thomas Palfrey will have the opportunity to fly later in the year.
While the probationers prepared for the enrolment, Corporals Olly Hunt and Richard Carson were taking Staff Cadet Examinations in the next room under the watchful eye of Ray Roberts, who commanded the Squadron during the 1970s.
