BOSS Ian Britton has hit back at fans who believe Kidderminster Harriers would not survive in the Nationwide League Second Division.
His comments come at a critical period in Harriers season in which they are knocking on the door for a Third Division play-off spot.
Some fans fear, however, that the hard-up club would be unable to keep their heads above water at a higher level, particularly in view of the disappointing lack of support through the Aggborough turnstiles.
Britton, though, disagrees that Second Division survival would be impossiblle.
He said: "If that's the case then maybe we should all pack it in now and not bother playing.
"Every club in every league has aspirations of doing well at the start of the season and trying to finish as high up the league as possible.
"Surely the aim when we start the season is to win as many games as possible and try and get promotion. If you take that away then what's the point of even turning up?"
Britton highlights West Bromwich Albion as a classic example.
He said: "They knew they couldn't compete financially in the Premiership and would probably struggle.
" However, they have given it their best shot and I'm sure their fans don't regret for one minute getting promotion."
Harriers went into today's home clash with relegation-threatened Swansea City one point away from a play-off spot and four from an automatic promotion slot.
