THE chief officer of a health watchdog has admitted she is not as 'optimistic' as she was about the outcome of a controversial review of Alexandra Hospital eye services.
Moira Morris, of the Redditch and Bromsgrove Community Health Council (CHC), spoke after attending the first monthly meeting of a devoted project team set up to look at county eye services.
Her main concern is Redditch patients will not be represented on the team after September, when CHCs nation-wide will be disbanded.
The project will look at department staffing, facilities and buildings, patient care 'pathways', financial frameworks and improvements to patient 'experience'.
People have called for more staff and better facilities at the Alexandra Hospital for years fearing the development of services at Worcester or Kidderminster will be at the expense those at Redditch.
But Mrs Morris said 'personalities' would play a big part in the outcome of the review and there was not consensus.
