PAUL Matthews' winner five minutes from time gave Fairfield Villa a 3-2 victory over Old Hill Town.
Leading 2-0 at half time, Villa held out for three points as Cliff Hughes' side kept up their push for Midland Combination division one promotion.
The Recreation Ground side made a dream start, taking the lead three minutes in when central defender Phil Upton beat visiting goalkeeper Steve Coldicott with a close range header.
The hosts doubled their advantage on 27 minutes, Wayne Davies scoring from a few yards out.
A minute before the break, Ian Brown beat the goalkeeper only to see his shot cleared off the line.
Five minutes into the second half the visitors pulled a goal back when Matthews conceded a penalty and Steve Haywood despatched the spot kick.
Villa suffered another blow on 55 minutes as Upton was sent off for dissent.
Old Hill equalised on 75 minutes when goalkeeper Malcolm Barnes mishandled a through ball, gifting Craig Shaw an empty net.
Villa scored the winner five minutes from the end with Paul Matthews finishing off a good move from 15 yards.
Farifield travel to Blackheath this Saturday (2.45pm) and play the reverse fixture against Old Hill Town on Tuesday (6pm).
