A FULL military funeral was to be held in Bromsgrove for young town soldier Lance Corporal David Jones, 23, who, with a colleague, had been shot while on patrol in County Londonderry. He had planned to marry this week.
BROMSGROVE people in the future would have good reason to thank the district council for giving supermarket chain Fine Fare the go-ahead to build a store on the old cattle market site. That was the opinion of the authority's chairman Councillor Henry Chattin who spoke at a meeting at which the plans were approved. Those who thought a supermarket would sound the death knell for High Street shops in the town were wrong, he added.
MORE than 200 past and present pupils and parents of children at Lickey First and Middle Schools gathered to say farewell to popular headteacher Alan Tomlinson. He was leaving to take up an important post in education in the county and was presented with gifts of cash and a heated food trolley.
BROMSGROVE'S MP Hal Miller was a member of a Commons committee looking at immigration, illegal immigrants and foreigners who overstayed their visits.
