MOTORISTS were warned against panic buying of petrol in the light of a possible tanker driver's strike. One garage proprietor commented: "A complete disregard of this timely warning simply means a drying up of supplies much sooner than expected."
UNEMPLOYMENT had risen by 35 in Bromsgrove since December. Five hundred and forty four people were out of work in January.
MEMBERS of Bromsgrove Round Table braved the rain to plant ash and lime trees in Crown Close. The Round Table had raised £75 from their Jubilee Eve bonfire and donated the money to Bromsgrove District Council to repay the people of Bromsgrove for their continued support.
BROMSGROVE'S Tory MP Hal Miller was campaigning to get a police request for additional numbers approved. The Home Secretary had previously 'fobbed him off' when he had asked about it.
MEMBERS of Bromsgrove New Road Methodist Young Wives were treated to a yoga session. There was some giggling when some found the exercises easy and others impossible but the overall impression was one of peace.
