SKATEBOARD crazy youngsters were warned that they were likely to be disappointed because Bromsgrove would most probably be the last town in the West Midlands to get its own skateboard ramp. A request by the Recreation committee to build a skateboard ramp in Sander's Park was turned down.
YOUNG Farmers had their annual trip to the pantomime. Over 60 members went to see 'Aladdin' at the Alexandra theatre, in Birmingham, starring Barbara Windsor and Terry Scott.
THE MINISTER for Transport announced plans for a new road to be built in the Oxford to Birmingham corridor at an estimated cost of £90 -100 million. The details of the new road were yet to be published. However the Minister said some parts could open in the mid-1980s, with later parts being completed by about 1990. But the cancellation of the northern arm of the M42, which had so badly affected the Lickey Grange school for the blind, was refused.
DISTRICT councillors were told that 'service before self' should be their watchword, after a new wage structure was proposed.
NEW lighting was due to be installed in Bromsgrove's Kidderminster Road, between Hanover Street and Whitford crossroads.
