THE president Nancy Davis welcomed members to the March meeting. After the singing of Jerusalem, members were reminded of the group meeting and the coffee morning at the home of Betty Wolsey.
Jewellery envelopes in aid of the National Heart Research Fund were collected.
The three resolutions to go forward to the National Council concerned obesity in children, vocational training for young people and care for the elderly.
Margaret Brown told us about Bromsgrove Talking Newspapers. She and her husband and a dedicated band of volunteers supply 70 to 80 homes. A newspaper goes on tape every fortnight with items from the Advertiser and other tapes with information on people, places and holidays. Wallets containing the tapes go post free and are cleaned when returned. Audio books read by well-known actors and authors are also available for people with impaired sight in private or residential homes.
A lively discussion followed the talk and several members read short passages which were recorded and played back.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, April 3, at the village hall at 2.30pm. The speaker will be from Severn Trent Water. The competition will be for the flower of the month.
