PROFITS from Bromsgrove's summer carnival in July could set a new record by topping the £10,000 mark.
That is the aim of carnival committee chairman Jeff Evans, who set himself the target when he took on the job seven years ago.
"I said then I would stand down when we reached £10,000 but now I enjoy being involved so much that I have changed my mind."
Jeff, from Aston Fields, says cash raised from all the carnival events has risen by between £500 and £1,000 during those seven years.
Last year's total of £7,500 was helped by the carnival gala in Sanders Park being held for the first time on a Sunday, as well as the Saturday.
"It will be held over two days again," said Jeff, adding: "Given good weather and if we can just attract a few more people, I think we could raise the magical £10,000."
A new gala event being considered for the Sunday is a 10km road race.
Wilson's funfair has again been booked for the weekend and the now traditional duck race on the brook is certain to be as popular as ever.
However, the committee is hoping to attract a sponsor for the craft marquee. This has become necessary as a result of the Hilton hotel stepping down after three years.
"We have been very grateful to them and we are hoping to attract another sponsor whose name will be seen by more than 10,000 visitors to the park on June 28 and 29," said Jeff.
