BROMSGROVE does not have facilities for sporting enthusiasts, a Bromsgrove District Council report revealed. The authority's recreation and leisure officer John Tozer found there were only four sports halls in the entire district and said the area lacked provision for indoor sports. He added the list of adults and children waiting to learn to swim outstripped the capacity of the town's pool.
CONCERNED Bromsgrove Trades' Council members called on Bromsgrove politicians to improve drainage in the subways under the A38 in Rubery. A council representative said people were sick of walking through the two subways up to their ankles in rainwater and slush.
NEARLY 140 children, under 14, from Lickey End, were to be presented with a souvenir to mark the Silver Jubilee. The idea, suggested by parents, was praised by Bromsgrove District Council's recreation and amenities committee.
CHARFORD residents were up in arms about the state of roads in part of their newly built estate. At a residents' association meeting, tenants said pot holes were a menace to pedestrians and drivers, and the problem was aggravated by the lack of street lighting. Residents also said the streets were piled with rubble and people had to take torches out at night to see. A Bromsgrove District Council spokesman said homes had been moved into at an early stage of development to prevent vandalism and because people were "crying out" for houses.
