ALFRED Byny, of Hanover Street, appeared before Bromsgrove magistrates charged with stealing a pea gun from his employer, William Newman, of Charford Farm. The court heard how the 14-year-old boy stole the gun and sold it to neighbour George Hall for 2/6 (12p).
THE owner of a Bromsgrove store selling jewellery and watches took an advert in the Messenger to advise friends and customers of a change of premises. Mr J W Rose moved his shop from 3 New Road to High Street, next to the Golden Cross Hotel.
A CONCERT was given in aid of Stoke Prior Cricket Club in the village schoolroom to a large appreciative audience. The programme was attractive and varied with vocal performances from Misses Fassnidge, Robinson and Lambie.
ALFRED Stanton, of The Strand, Bromsgrove, Frank Gosage, of Blackmore, and Arthur Mole, of New Buildings, were charged with letting off fireworks in The Strand on October 22. PC Parker claimed one of the boys put a Chinese cracker under one of the house doors. The Bromsgrove Magistrates' Court chairman said the boys ought to know not to let off fireworks in the street. The defendants said they would not offend again and the chairman released them.
FREDERICK Snellus, of Blackmore, and Joseph Norbury, of Parkside, appeared at Bromsgrove Magistrates' Court charged with assaulting Charles Wilson, of Blackmore. Wilson claimed Snellus struck him to the floor when he was heard coughing outside his home. Wilson then went into his house. He reappeared with a pair of tongs and threatened Norbury and Snellus with them. The chairman ordered they keep the peace for six months.

MEMBERS of Hanbury Women's Institute enjoyed a day trip to Blenheim Palace. They viewed the vast range of antiques, artwork and tapestries before taking tea in the Arcade Rooms.
A CYCLIST was fined £1 after failing to comply with a halt sign out of The Avenue into New Road, Rubery.
BROMSGROVE Town Band enjoyed an all-star variety programme at their annual dinner. The event was held at the Golden Cross Hotel. Tickets were sold for 12/6 (72.5p).
ADVERTS show that gas cookery demonstrations were given in the Bromsgrove Gas showrooms today and on November 15.

BROMSGROVE MP Hal Miller announced his engagement to Miss Jackie Roe, of Dragon House, Edgioak, near Cookhill.
RECENTLY introduced pay and display machines came under fire at a district council meeting in Bromsgrove. Suppliers of the machines had contracted maintenance of the nine machines for £810 per year, but the council had already had a number of complaints from motorists who had inserted the 5p charge but had not received a ticket.
A NEW boarding house complex was opened at Bromsgrove School after 25 years of planning. Guest, Keen and Netherfold Limited group chairman Barrie Heath arrived by helicopter to open the Worcester Road site.
BROMSGROVE Rovers were knocked out of the FA Cup when they were beaten by Nuneaton Borough 2-0.
TOWN MP Hal Miller made a proposal to The House of Commons. He recommended a flat rate for school transport for all pupils living beyond a certain distance in Bromsgrove and Redditch.
