NEW horizons have opened up for disabled people at Pershore Day Centre with the delivery of a new minibus.
It will mean more freedom for six adults with profound physical and learning disabilities, who have had to rely on an elderly bus.
"The big bus is very difficult to park and many people are not confident driving it," said day centre officer Jan Smith-Daniel.
"The new one is more like a people carrier and it's a bit more cool and trendy. It's going to be super and will open up lots of doors."
Besides going swimming and bowling, users of the centre will be able to travel in the minibus for shopping trips, visits to the doctor or dentist and occasional outings farther afield.
The £20,000 Mercedes vehicle can take up to three wheelchairs, with room for three more people in front.
It was bought by the Friends of Pershore Day Centre, a charity founded by parents and carers.
"We were beginning to pay quite big maintenance bills," said chairman Judy Hall.
"We raised the funds for this much-needed minibus through the local community and thank everyone for their support."
