BEWDLEY Police have said that the new effort to consider CCTV for the town was "a big step forward."
Beat manager Nigel Barter said the grant from Opportunity Bewdley would enable an in-depth study to see where cameras could go and how much the scheme would cost to install and run.
PC Barter said: "I think this is a big step forward to getting CCTV installed in Bewdley town centre and car parks.
"CCTV would make life easier for us in terms of detecting but, more importantly, preventing crime as well as boosting public reassurance."
The study will be carried out during the second week of April.
Plans for CCTV in Bewdley and the Wyre Forest were last discussed three years ago but were voted down by the district council as too expensive.
