GARDENING CLUB: After a lovely sunny day there was an excellent attendance at the March meeting. Chairman Bridget Maslin congratulated the team of Ann Wall, Peggy Atherton and Lois Joiner, on coming third in the inter-club quiz the previous evening. She reminded everyone of the Stefan Buczacki lecture in aid of the Hall Refurbishment Fund and outings were announced to the Dorothy Clive garden in Market Drayton and Home Farm and Willow Lodge in Herefordshire. Ann Wall hoped everyone would enter the Spring Show on April 12.
Bridget introduced Tony Hamblin, who was making a welcome return to Mickleton. He gave everyone a wonderful evening showing his photographs of nature accompanied by an interesting and lively talk entitled Seasons and Wildlife. He started with a snowy scene and then went through spring, summer, autumn and winter. He had captured pictures of birds feeding their young in the nest with wide open beaks, alternating with animals, plants, flowers and scenic views
The competition was won by Lisa Jolliffe for her photograph of a nuthatch.
