CALEDONIAN SOCIETY: Some 50 members and friends nicely filled a tartan-bedecked St Gregory's Hall for a relaxed Ceilidh evening. There was a great variety of turns, sung and spoken, from Glynis Nicol, Angela Short, Moira Tsolakis, Kathleen Winter and Colin Nichols. Mike Grimes, Stratford Operatic Society's romantic tenor, accompanied by Eric Sinton on the piano, demonstrated his versatility with three grand songs. Malcolm Short designed the dancing element of the evening.
At the society's council meeting held on March 13 it was proposed that, following the success of its first Young People's Concert, the society should build on its experience to run another such afternoon concert next year.
The council decided that the £250 surplus generated by the concert should be donated to the Friends of the Stratford Music Centre to help with their work with young people.
