DEFENDER Lee Ayres stepped into the limelight after his first two senior goals against Exeter on Saturday but echoed his manager's thoughts on the defending.
Ayres, who turned 20 yesterday, said: "It was three points but not the greatest of performances.
"You cannot be happy to concede three goals, especially after we have done so much defensive work in training. Three key errors could easily have lost us three points.
"But to come back from 2-0 down to be winning shows that we did really well. The lads pulled together.
"However, you can never write the opposition off and a lack of concentration let them back into it."
Like any young professional, Ayres is just hoping to get as many games under his belt as he can and he has been helped by injuries to Craig Hinton and more recently Abdou Sall.
After making a good impression in the early stages of last season before an injury at Hull City, the door is now wide open for the rangy centre-back.
