Selly Oak 17 pts Ludlow 21-
LUDLOW gave a solid performance against fellow Midlands 4 West (North) opponents Selly Oak to advance to the third round of the North Midlands Shield.
The visitors tried to keep the ball tight in the early stages but Selly Oak used their limited possession well to cross for two unconverted tries in the first 10 minutes.
Astute kicking by fly-half Mark Williams set up a good attacking position for lock Jake Parkes to drive over.
After the interval a superb break by centre Jason Hodnett produced a try for James Ellis, and good forward play saw Paul Wright crash over.
Williams landed all three conversions and, despite a late try from Selly Oak, Ludlow booked their place in the next round.
