Furnace Sports 2 Tenbury United 3-
TENBURY booked their place in the final of the Kidderminster League Senior Cup with a battling performance against a determined Furnace Sports.
The visitors started well and enjoyed a lot of early possession to put Furnace on the back foot. They quickly closed down Ten-bury to deny them any real scoring opportunities and rocked the visitors with a 19th minute goal.
Tenbury twice failed to clear their lines and when the ball was swept back into the box goalkeeper Byron Davies made a good stop but failed to hold on to the ball, the home striker forcing the ball in.
Johnny Welsh and Ashley Botwood gradually imposed themselves on the game and eventually Tenbury got back on terms when Botwood controlled a bouncing ball in the box to side-foot in from close range.
Tenbury took the lead when Botwood played a ball through the middle and George Pearson showed fine skill to bring the ball down and fire home from the edge of the box.
After the interval Tenbury continued to have the edge and extended their lead when the ball broke to Aaron Morris following a corner. He let fly with a rasping drive which the Furnace goalkeeper could only parry to Brett McIntosh who chipped to the far post for Karl Pearson to head home.
With five minutes to go Tenbury failed to clear and the ball was pumped back into the box and over the line to set up an interesting finish.
