A NEW search is launched today for "rising stars" in the district who deserve public recognition.
Following hot on the heels of our Three Cheers! community awards celebrating unsung heroes in our midst, the Shuttle/Times & News has now teamed up with Warburtons, the family baker, to target young people who make a difference to others.
Our search aims to spotlight children and teenagers who demonstrate outstanding spirit by overcoming adversity, through voluntary work and fundraising or by helping others in need.
Trevor Burke, general manager of Warburtons' Wednesbury bakery which serves the Wyre Forest area, said: "Our work with charity and community projects in the area during the two years since we opened this bakery has included everything from supporting breakfast clubs to supplying kit to adventure playgrounds.
"The link between all activities has been the fantastic effort that people from this area are prepared to put in to help the community. It's been a real eye-opener for us, and consequently we wanted to give something back to recognise their efforts."
So do you know a Rising Star who you believe should be recognised for their achievements?
Warburtons is searching for Rising Stars in three age categories - 5-7 years, 8-10 years and 11-16 years. All nominees will receive a Warburtons Rising Star certificate.
The three winning Warburtons Rising Stars will each receive £150 to donate to a charity of their choice, £100 of gift vouchers to spend on themselves and a Warburtons Rising Star trophy to display at home.
To nominate someone you know for the prize, simply fill in the application form below, including brief details on why you believe your nomination is worthy of recognition, by the closing date of Friday, April 25.
The winning entries in each category will be decided by Warburtons.
