EMPTY packets of painkillers were found next to an elderly widow discovered dead in bed by one of her daughters.
Augusta Cale, aged 88, was found at her home in Kingsbury Road, St John's, Worcester, on Monday morning.
A post mortem failed to find a cause of death.
Opening an inquest in Stourport-on-Severn yesterday, Worcester-shire coroner Victor Round said she had been seen alive on Sunday.
He added "a number" of empty packets of painkillers were found near her body. The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
