AN attempt to discuss selling Malvern Town Council's offices has ended in dispute.
A motion by town councillor Adrian Ward for the council to consider either selling or leasing out the building was on the agenda for Monday's full council meeting.
However, the chairman, coun Frances Victory, halted discussion and transferred it to the finance committee meeting on April 15.
She said the issue had uncosted budget implications and her decision was in line with the council's standing orders.
That was disputed by coun Ward, who said after the meeting: "This is a major issue and major expense for the council and nothing happened.
"It's a blatant disregard for the principles and democratic process. I shall be making a formal complaint about it."
Coun Paul Tuthill also challenged the decision: "Don't you think this is a matter of great importance to the people of Malvern and should be heard by full council?" he asked coun Victory.
However, coun Victory's actions were later described as correct by the town clerk Shirley Young.
