IN response to Sean Kirtley's letter (Your Letters, March 21) in which he encouraged his own children to take part in an anti-war 'walk-out', I wonder if he has bothered to give them the full facts.
True enough, war is an awful situation, but the citizens of Iraq, including women and children have already experienced awful horrors from their own leader. This war is the lesser of two evils and both sides of the argument need to be presented to our children.
What alternative does Mr Kirtley suggest? The whole world is at risk when such evil men are allowed to perpetrate a long list of atrocities.
It's about time we acknowledged the bravery not only of our troops, but also of the politicians who, despite their misgivings, voted clearly in favour of this action. We live in a democracy, unlike the citizens of Iraq.
As Churchill once said, it's not a perfect system, but it's the best we've got. In my name - Yes!
