ANURAG Singh scored an unbeaten century to help Worcestershire win their first match of their pre-season tour to Northern Transvaal in South Africa.
Playing against a Limpopo Province Invitation XI in Polokwane, County skipper Ben Smith won the toss and elected to bat on good track in fine weather.
Worcester scored 323-6 in 45 overs with Singh retiring on exactly 100. He was well supported by Graeme Hick with 77, Stephen Peters 46, Vikram Solanki 29 and Smith 24. The Provincial XI were then dismissed for 145 in 37 overs.
Paceman Chris Liptrot took 4-33 off nine overs with Matt Mason taking 2-33 and Kadeer Ali 2-30.
The previous day the Worcestershire squad took part in a coaching session for 70 local children as part of their schedule.
The entire tour is being hosted by the Limpopo Youth Cricket Association based in Polokwane (Pietersberg). The next game is tomorrow.
County newcomer Mark Harrity was joining the squad today and Nantie Hayward will meet up with his new team-mates tomorrow morning.
