I FIND it refreshing to know that among the usual armchair generals that regularly contribute to this column on the war in Iraq, there are still opposing individuals who are prepared to stand up and be counted.
I'm referring, of course, to Councillor Ray Turner, who decided to resign his seat on St Nicholas ward over the issue and D Parker, whose letter headlined War on the Innocents appeared in You Say on Tuesday, March 4.
These two individuals oppose wars as a result of their own first-hand experiences and, to that end, I admire their courage, intelligence and conviction.
I hope they do not feel downcast and take comfort from the fact that there are millions of people all over the world who oppose military actions.
