AFTER nearly two years of hard work moving Arden Sailing Club to its outstanding new venue the club is pleased to concentrate once more on actual sailing.
The early season fleet has consisted mainly of Enterprises with the odd Solo and Topper. They have competed for the Spring Handicap trophy over the last four Sundays.
Ever present at the front Nial Camble and his brilliant crew, Jane Smee, won all races sailed except the last. The consistent Alan Salerman with various crews was second in both races he entered.
The club bosun Ralph Evans improved steadily in his newly acquired Solo to take the honours in the last race. The points table shows Ralph currently leading with Nial a close second.
So close, in fact, that the race abandoned because of too much wind on Saturday, March 9 will have to be rescheduled.
Arden Sailing Club, which is situated on the River Avon just outside Defford near Pershore, has a full season of racing, sail training and social events planned for the year ahead.
One of the first events planned is a taster or try sailing day on Sunday, April 13. Take the whole family, enjoy an afternoon by the river and try sailing. Who knows you might even like it and as there are currently opportunities for membership and training you might even like to join the club.
